TOWN OF SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA COUNCILLOR CHARGED

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) - On September 6, 2017 at approximately 11:26 a.m., Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated an assault which allegedly occurred on September 5th on George Street in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula.

As a result of the investigation, Bruce Peninsula OPP arrested 67-year old Craig GAMMIE of South Bruce Peninsula. He was charged with Assault and Breach of Trust by a Public Officer. The accused was held for a bail hearing scheduled for September 8, 2017.

The victim, a 55-year old male from South Bruce Peninsula, suffered minor injuries as a result of the assault.

FORD F150 PICK-UP TRUCK STOLEN FROM GREY HIGHLANDS

(MUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) - On September 5, 2017 at approximately 7:29 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the theft of a 2012 Ford F150 crew cab, XTR pick-up truck, black in colour with a vehicle registration number (VIN) of 1FTFW1ET3CFC45328, and having Ontario licence plates AC52579.

The vehicle was stolen from a rural property on the 10th Concession in the Municipality of Grey Highlands sometime between August 25 and September 5, 2017.

MISCHIEF TO PROPERTY IN KING EDWARD PARK - MARKDALE

(MUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) - On September 5, 2017 at approximately 8:07 a.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called after someone had spray painted the food booth and port-a-johns located in the ball park area of King Edward Park located on Walker Street, Markdale, in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.

The mischief occurred sometime between 9:00 p.m. on September 4th and 8:00 a.m. on September 5th, 2017.

DISTRACTED DRIVING LEADS TO ADDITIONAL CHARGES

(MUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) - On September 8, 2017 at approximately 4:08 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a driver after he was observed talking on a cell phone while operating a motor vehicle eastbound on Elizabeth Street in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.

Once stopped, the officer determined that the driver of the 2002 Ford Escape had been drinking alcohol and that he was a suspended driver for unpaid fines.

43-year old Brian Gordon EAGLES of the Municipality of Grey Highlands was charged with Drive with More than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood; Driving While Under Suspension and Drive Motor Vehicle on a Highway While Using a Hand Held Wireless Communication Device.

He was served a 90 day driver's licence suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

He is scheduled to appear in Court in Owen Sound on October 5, 2017.

DRIVER CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED

(TOWNSHIP OF CHATSWORTH, ON) - On September 8, 2017 at approximately 9:58 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) checked a 2015 Dodge Ram pick-up truck parked on Hwy. 6 & 10 in the Township of Chatsworth. The vehicle's engine was running and the headlights/taillights were on.

When the officer approached the vehicle, the lone occupant exited the driver's seat and spoke with the officer. It was determined that the male had been drinking alcohol. A partial can of beer was found within the cabin of the truck.

34-year old Justin Adam HANSLER of the Township of Chatsworth was charged with Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle while Impaired and Care or Control Over 80 mg.

He is scheduled to appear in Court in Owen Sound on September 21, 2017.

IMPAIRED DRIVER DITCHES VEHICLE

(MUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) - On September 10, 2017 at approximately 9:41 a.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Bowles Bluff Road in the Municipality of Grey Highlands resulting in the arrest of an impaired driver.

The driver, who had been drinking alcohol, was operating a GMC Sierra pick-up truck southbound on Bowles Bluff Road. He lost control of the vehicle which left the roadway and entered the east ditch.

As a result of the investigation, 22-year old Kevin GREY-ALBANESE, of Melancthon Township, was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80 mgs.

He suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision. There were no passengers.

He is scheduled to appear in Court in Owen Sound on October 5, 2017.

IMPAIRED DRIVER STOPPED

(MUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) - On September 10, 2017 at approximately 7:30 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report from a concerned motorist of a possible impaired driver traveling northbound on Grey Road 14, north of Conn, in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.

Police stopped the suspect vehicle, a 2007 Dodge Ram pick-up truck, on the West Back Line, after the officer observed the vehicle being driven erratically. The lone driver was found to have been drinking alcohol. Police observed several cans of beer inside the cab of the truck including two part cans.

45-year old Thomas Murray STEEN of the Municipality of West Grey has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in his system.

He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on September 21, 2017.

THEFT OF FIREWOOD ELEVATOR

(MUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) - Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continue to investigate the theft of a 30 foot long, homemade firewood elevator from a bush lot located on the 3rd Line A in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.

The theft occurred sometime between 7:30 p.m. on August 29th and 8:00 a.m. on August 30th, 2017. Unknown person(s) entered the property by forcibly removing a metal gate.

The firewood elevator was painted a "John Deere green" colour. It was mounted on a single axel and had a 5 horsepower Honda engine mounted above the axel. The equipment was valued at approximately $10,000.

FEMALE ARRESTED - STOLEN PICK-UP TRUCK RECOVERED

(TOWNSHIP OF SOUTHGATE, ON) - On September 5, 2017 at approximately 9:52 a.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a theft report after an unknown male was observed stealing several cans of gasoline from a residence on Southgate Road 22 in the Township of Southgate.

The suspect left the scene in a white pick-up truck eastbound on Southgate Road 22. Information was received that prior to the theft of gas, the same vehicle was observed towing a gold-coloured pick-up truck.

While en route, police observed a male and a female standing next to a gold-coloured pick-up truck at the intersection of Grey Road 23 and Southgate Road 22. While speaking to the pair, police had discovered that the truck, as well as the plates, had been reported stolen from Middlesex County. The male fled on foot. Police arrested the female who transported to the Chatsworth OPP Detachment.

32-year old Jessica Lea BABO of Sarnia, Ontario was charged with possession of stolen property and breach of probation. She was held for a bail hearing on September 5, 2017.

She is scheduled to appear in Court in Owen Sound on October 5, 2017.

POLICE INVESTIGATING THEFT OF TOOLS

(MILDMAY, ON) - On September 8, 2017 at 8:16 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report on the theft of tools. Sometime between 9:00 p.m. on September 7, 2017 and 8:00 a.m. on September 8, 2017, the tools were taken from a pick-up truck along Simpson Street in Mildmay.

A Mastercraft socket set, a 15 amp Mastercraft reciprocating saw, a 14 ounce Stiletto framing hammer and a 20 volt Dewalt cordless hammer drill were taken. The value of the stolen tools is estimated to be $750.
