Web posted on August 10, 2017

Drivers from Grey County and those passing through the area, will now benefit from improvements to Highway 6 that will help keep traffic moving.

The construction work was done by Cox Construction Company and started in July 2016 and is now complete. The tender value of the project is $7.85 million. These construction improvements will affect an average daily traffic, for this section of Highway 6, of approximately 6,250 vehicles per day.

The completed work includes a repaved surface and improved drainage on 12.4 kilometres of Highway 6 from Mount Forest to the north junction of Grey County Road 9, in the Township of Southgate and the Municipality of West Grey. These improvements will ensure a smooth driving surface for travellers.

Daiene Vernile, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Transportation, was in Mount Forest today to mark the completion of the highway upgrades.

"The completion of these improvements to this section of Highway 6 marks a smoother drive for people who live here and those who travel through the area. We're making the investments needed to allow more seamless transportation right across the province." Daiene Vernille, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Transportation.
