IMPAIRED DRIVER CAUGHT AT RIDE

(BRANT TWP, ON) - On April 9, 2017 at 12:20 a.m., members of the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting R.I.D.E. on Side road 25 north in Brant Township when a Grey Subaru stopped. Officers noted that the driver had been drinking alcohol.

Twenty-three-year old Damon HUNT of Brockton was charged with operate over 80 milligrams. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 3, 2017 to answer to the charge.

IMPAIRED DRIVER FACING DAY IN COURT

(MEAFORD, ON) - On April 8, 2017 at 9:06 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a disturbance on Tom Thomson Line in the Municipality of Meaford. Officers stopped to check on a Blue Chevrolet Silverado pick-up along Grey Road 15 and found that the driver had been drinking alcohol.

Twenty-year-old Andrew RUTHERFORD of Meaford was charged with care or control while impaired, care or control over 80 milligrams and novice driver with blood alcohol greater than zero. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 27, 2017 to answer to the charges.

IMPAIRED DRIVER LOSES CONTROL

(GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) - On April 8, 2017 at 3:17 p.m., the Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a vehicle in the ditch along Grey Road 2 in Grey Highlands. Officers arrived to find a Grey Hyundai Santa Fe had left the roadway and entered the west ditch. The driver was found to have been drinking alcohol.

Sixty-nine-year old George HOLLETT of Grey Highlands was charged with impaired driving and operate over 80 milligrams. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 27, 2017 to answer to the charges. There were no injuries reported at the scene.

MALE IN CRITICAL CONDITION AFTER TREE FELLING MISHAP

(MUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) - On April 10, 2017 at approximately 1:42 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of male injured as a result of a tree felling mishap that occurred on Grey Rd. 4 in the Municipality of Grey Highlands. The lone male had been cutting trees with a chainsaw on his rural property when the incident occurred.

The 76-year old victim suffered serious injuries. He was taken to a local hospital and was later transported, via ambulance, to a Toronto hospital where he is in critical condition.

Grey County OPP remind homeowners that tree care and removal work is hazardous and may be dangerous. Successfully felling a tree requires knowledge of tree physics, dangerous tools and cutting techniques. Homeowners who attempt their own tree trimming or removal may be injured by falling limbs, malfunctioning equipment, or the tree itself.

POLICE INVESTIGATING BREAK-INS TO SEASONAL RESIDENCES

(MUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) - The Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a number of break-ins to seasonal residences in the Municipality of Grey Highlands that were reported to police on April 1, 2017.

Five seasonal residences were forcibly entered along Balaton Trial and Pinewood Drive in the Irish Lake area sometime between March 29th and April 1st. There is nothing reported stolen and there is no estimate on the cost of break-in repairs available at this time.

Grey County OPP, with the assistance of the OPP Forensic Identification Services Unit - Mount Forest, continues to investigate.
